Haridhwar Rishikesh trip --April 8,9,-2012.

A dip in Ganges was my long awaited dream.
The place where Sri Haridas Giri's jala samadhi took place,where daily Gangha Arthi is performed,Ohoo sure, sure I must visit.

Got an oppurtunity to visit again this year.helWheni went 4 years back,we donot have time since we got held up at chandi Devi Temple due to heavy rain. at top hill.

God is great ,gave me second chance top planproperly.

This time we booked through souther travel.Really not bad.

For Rs.900 they cover Rishikesh,Haridhwar75%.Night by bus reached early morning ,freshen up in aSai bhabha chathram,hotwater etc,left to visit Places sharpby 6.30Am.Sharp 8.30 breakfast dosa idly,thandoori,poori everything is available.Plain bread toast,butter salad is also for foreigners


Places covered at Rishikesh

1.Sivanandha Asram
2.Lakshman joola,new &old,had nice walk ,photoes.
3.Geetha ashram,small small siddha ,bhabha temples.
4.of course shoppingfor Rudraksha
5.Rudraksha tree.
6.Boat ride of ganges.(a small ride forRs. 10)

Next we left to haridhwar reached around 12.

Preparation were made for holy dip.
All at open area.

Many many people were taking a dip.
Of course Pandits will catch up if u show intrest,milk u up with parigharm etc up to 5000.

So be very careful.At the bank of the river Mugs and flower,milk Dhiya(lamp made with atta)
are sold.

U can buy one,if u fear to have a whole dip in water(barriers are provided,but flow of chilled water is heavy to manage)u can use mug.
Make a pooja of ur style float the lighted lamp.wonderful.Many many floating Dhiyas.

Then we changed our wet clothes in a closed place,no roof.

went to visit Maya devi temple by Rope car Ohooo lots of crowd was waiting on regular que.

Since we r at package,paid a little high amout,we through separate gate to UDAN(rope car).

Yes the temple is at hill.Very pleasent view of Haridhwar andthe hilly sight was wonderful.

As thripathi lots lots of crowd as we neared the sanctum.

This one of the Sakthi peed where Parvathi devi's Naval was scattered.

Better to visit in morning provided u plan ur trip separately.

We took a break of journey from travels,took a room at Narasingha Bhavan.the evening

our plan is to see Gangha Arthi in the evening.We freshened up,rushed to Gangha Ghat-Hariki peti.Mass crowd is already waiting.we were asked to sit around.Saw the pooja and Arthi from a distance.As usual money collection by govt,distrubence of volenteers were there.Inspite of all that we managed to watch.





Next day morning visited Chandi matha (siddha peedam) on another hill.

Took an auto for 80 ,(actually lots of autoes are share autoes)At morning hr nobody came to share with us.
went to buy ticket for 207per head.Udan took us to the temple.Not much crowd.Visited Anjana

Devi mandir(mother of Anjaneya)too.

Really lots of monkeys at the hill waiting to snatch poori,kadalai pkts and coconut.Even if u feed them they like this way of snatching only.


Packgage ticket for both chandi and Maya is available,to and fro bus is also arranged by govt.

Thats possible if only we stay for a day at haridhwar.

We have already booked ticket in a private bus which dropped us safely at Delhi around 7 pm.
